Sylvain Andrey

The classical percussionist, teacher and composer Sylvain Andrey was born in Lausanne in 1990. After studying percussion at the conservatory (HEMU) in his hometown, he studied at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in the class of Klaus Schwärzler (Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich), Rainer Seegers (Berlin Philharmonic), Martin Grubinger and Raphael Christen to specialise as an orchestral percussionist.

After a one-year internship with the Bern Symphony Orchestra, Sylvain became a member of various orchestras in Switzerland such as the Orchestra de Chambre de Lausanne (OCL), the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the Bern Symphony Orchestra and a member of the City Light Symphony Orchestra in Lucerne.

Sylvain Andrey is active as a pedagogue in Switzerland and tries to complement his percussion teaching with his "School of Percussion Tzak !" together with new technologies (web app Tzak!) and to raise awareness of ensemble playing with percussion ensembles in his classes. He tries to bring together the skills acquired in his renowned teaching at the ZHdK and pass them on to his students.
