Stefan Herzig

was born on 15 February 1987 in St. Gallen and grew up in Schönengrund AR. At the young age of 7, he chose the drumset as his instrument and received lessons from Richard Stillhart.

After graduating as an electrician, Stefan Herzig completed his military service in the summer of 2008 with the military band in Aarau. But this was not enough for him and he continued his education to become a non-commissioned officer and enjoyed conducting training. After completing his non-commissioned service, he was accepted in 2009 into the percussion class of Hansjürg Wahlich and Christian Hartmann at the Bern University of the Arts (HKB).

Even before or during his studies, he was very involved in various formations, such as Liberty Brass Band, Brass Band Berner Oberland, the Aulos, Camerata Schweiz, and is still a sought-after expert for register rehearsals at music camps and workshops.

As further challenges, Stefan trained as a leader of brass classes and as a J + M (Youth and Music) leader.

In 2016, he received the ABV prize "Promoting Youth" from the Appenzell Wind Music Association.

Stefan currently teaches at the Wil Music School, the Appenzeller Hinterland Music School and the Thurland Music School. Stefan also leads a percussion ensemble and is the conductor of the Häggenschwil music society. Stefan is the drummer in the country rock band "Ace of States", the cheerful Bohemian/Moravian formation "Fihuspa" and works voluntarily in the Appenzell Wind Music Association in the department of music and youth development.
